Food That Comes With an Expiration Date

Every weekend I join the rest of America and shop for the coming week's groceries. Most of the time I can't help but take a peek at other customers baskets....it's so fascinating to see what other people are consuming!

I buy 99.9% perishable foods for that week only. It's hard to tell in this picture but most our groceries consist of a ton of fresh veggies (broccoli, zucchini, squash, bell peppers, etc) fruits (tomatoes, cucumbers, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries) nuts and organic meats. Most coaches will tell you to shop the outer perimeter of the grocery store. That's where you'll find natural, perishable, good quality food. To get the best quality food visit the farmer's market and shop local!

Shopping each week for only the next 5-6 days also helps us save money. By Friday I have to get really creative on what to cook because we're down to the last bit of food. We eat everything we buy and nothing goes to waste.

Why 99.9% and not 100% perishable foods? I love to make homemade salsa -- canned tomatoes, diced green chilies & diced jalapenos (the cans you see in the above pic) along with some spices makes for a quick and easy homemade salsa.

And then there's my weakness at every grocery store and farmer's market - fresh flowers!
