Rewind Post #4 - PROJECT 2013

The last week has been a whirl wind of events - hence the lack of posting! I'll back it up a few days and let you in on whats been going down behind the scenes @ Central in the next few posts. From most recent to last......

This Tuesday - Thursday ten CrossFit Central coaches and myself went to LBJ to participate in Project 2013. When AT, a CrossFit Central CrossFitter, called me 6 months ago and asked if we'd be interested in putting incoming LBJ students through a workout each day of their freshman orientation camp we didn't' hesitate to jump on board. Not only was it a chance to teach these kids about fitness and the importance of moving BUT teach them how to work together as a team, leadership skills, and how to persevere even when it's tough.

When we walked in the first day - most of the kids were reluctant to join in the workout. We got a couple, Are You Crazy? looks. But by the end of Day 1 after the CrossFit Burpee Battle (4 LBJ students vs. Coach Michael Gregory & Coach Lance Cantu) we won them over. They got into it, stepped up to the challenge, and blew us away with their versatility, willingness to learn, be coached, and take it to the next level.

We had a blast this week with these kids. I hope they got something out of it, they'll never know what a significant impact it made on our lives - Thanks AT for giving us the opportunity to work with an amazing group of students, coaches, teachers, and parents!
