This is Kid's Stuff

Seeing the world through the eyes of a child gives us a true picture of reality - innocent and pure. Where adults see stress and concern children see adventure and possibilities. Where adults complicate situations, pass judgment and hold grudges children keep it simple, operate on blind faith and forgiveness.

Recently I dropped by a CrossFit Kid's Camp and got to see this theory in action. The workout challenged them to find a way to work together, trust one another & push themselves - even when they thought they couldn't. We wrapped up the morning with story time and I found myself engulfed in the message, creating and dreaming up the possibilities of my future.

There are a few books that are often categorized as "Children's Books" that are among my favorites --> To Kill a Mockingbird, The Adventures of Huckleberry Fin, A Wrinkle in Time & of course the master of 'childhood' poetry Dr. Seuss.

Think Dr. Seuss' rhymes are meant for kids? Think again - Pay attention to Dr. Seuss' lyrical and theatrical prose, they are life lessons we can all use:
  • The more that you read,
The more things you will know.
    The more that you learn,
    The more places you’ll go.

  • You have brains in your head.
You have feet in your shoes.
    You can steer yourself
    any direction you choose.
    You're on your own.
And you know what you know.
And YOU are the one who'll decide where to go.

  • And today the great Yertle, that Marvelous he,
Is King of the Mud. That is all he can see.
And the turtles, of course... all the turtles are free
As turtles and, maybe, all creatures should be.

It's still inside all of us.
Some buried deeper than others,
but it's still in there.

All you have to do,
to get it back,
is let go.

Let go.

Let go with pure faith,
that when you do let go.......
You will fly
